The purpose of Healthway’s Racing Sponsorship Program is to encourage a healthier lifestyle and create a healthier environment at racing venues throughout WA. The racing sponsorship program also aims to increase health message awareness and to see changes in respect to positive behaviour change.
The definition of racing encompasses ‘horse racing and pacing, dog racing and motor car and motor cycle racing’. Racing organisations are invited to apply for sponsorship for a range of activities, which may include:
- Turf and harness racing, greyhound racing, motor vehicle, motorcycle and karting activities/events which provide opportunities to promote health; and
- Race days, promotional or speciality events, seasonal programs, club development activities, state or national championships.
Racing Sponsorship Program Objectives
- To reach and engage with groups that are disadvantaged due to geographic, social or economic factors;
- To raise awareness and increase positive attitudes towards health issues;
- To create healthy environments(in particular through expanding smoke free environments, encouraging provision and promotion of healthy catering options and health policy development and implementation).; and
- To build community connectedness and improve health through increased access, involvement and active participation in racing activities.
Please note that motor sport events/organisations should discuss their application with Healthway in the first instance as Healthway has specific policies regarding burnouts, CAMS or NASR sanctioned events, Peak Body endorsement, track licences, track permits and public liability.
