Our Minister

Healthway was established in 1990 as an independent, statutory body and operates under the Western Australian Health Promotion Foundation Act 2016 reporting to the Honourable Meredith Hammat BA MIR MLA, Minister for Preventative Health.

Prevention and health promotion partnerships are key themes in the State Government’s Sustainable Health Review Report. The Report outlines eight enduring strategies and 30 recommendations for change in the Western Australian health system. A key focus is towards prevention and early intervention, with attention drawn to action on obesity, harmful alcohol use, mental health and wellbeing, providing children with the best start to life, and addressing unfair disparities in health.
